Guest Post: Favorite Beauty Products

Today I'm doing something very special... Shannon from Polish and Sugar and I are doing a blog swap and she is writing her guest post about some of her favorite beauty products! Thanks to Carrie from My Favorite Finds and Julie from White Lights on Wednesday for putting this swap together!

Hey everyone! I'm Shannon from Polish and Sugar. I'm so excited to be able to guest post today on Chocolate Covered Buttons. I wanted to share with you my favourite beauty products.

Shannon's Favourite Beauty Products

 1. Maybelline Great Lash mascara

 Maybelline Great Lash Mascara

For all the products that I may wear, or like to put on before I head out for the day, I could give up a lot of them when I'm in a hurry. Mascara is the one thing I never, ever, ever, leave without putting on. It takes about 7 seconds, and can really make your eyes pop. I've found that there are so many sub-par mascara brands out there though. Maybelline's Great Lash is a definite exception! Did you know that this mascara has been selling for over 40 years? Yep, there is a reason my mother always used this brand when I was growing up. It gives my eyes the perfect colour burst, never clumps, and stays on all day without smudging. My personal favourite colour? Big Blackest Black!

 2. Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock

I've noticed that my skin is becoming more sensitive to sunburns, so I've started to make sure I carry around a little tube of SPF in my purse. This Neutrogena sunblock is the best I've ever tried. It feels just like a moisturizer and doesn't have the gross smell that SPF usually does. Win-Win in my books!

3. Clarins After-Sun Gel Ultra-Soothing

Clarins After-Sun Gel Ultra-Smoothing

Speaking of sunburns, I picked this after-sun gel up at an airport duty-free store after getting a little sunburn on a trip. It does such a good job of not only soothing the burn, but also maximizing the colour into a post-burn tan, and minimizing peeling. It's become a regular in my beauty ritual after a day in the sun. I even use it on my skin when I have a tan, just to keep that colour a few days longer.

 4. Sally Hansen Insta-Dry nail polish

 Sally Hansen Insta-Dry nail polish

I am a bit obsessed with nail polish. On my blog, I often feature different colours and patterns that I paint my nails with. Sally Hansen Insta-Dry is my absolute top choice for polish. It has a great brush that allows for smooth application and dries so super quick! This polish is the best way to have pretty nails in our busy lives.

 5. L'Oreal Elnett Satin hairspray

 L'Oreal Elnett Satin hairspray

A few years ago I was on a business trip in Kuwait, and the hotel gave us beauty kits. In the kit was a sample size of this hairspray. My colleague told me that she had read about this hairspray in a magazine, and that it was popular among hairstylists in Europe but wasn't available in North America. It really is the most amazing hairspray, so I made that trial size sample last FOREVER. And then, about a year ago, I found it selling in stores in Canada! (I'm assuming it's also in the U.S by now too). I will never buy a different kind of hairspray after using this. It's so light to feel, and never makes my hair feel weighted down. But at the same time it holds hair so unbelievably well. The best part though? It disappears when you brush it out. Yep, you read that right. Amazing!

 6. TRESemme Dry Shampoo Volumizing

:TRESemme Dry Shampoo Volumizing

I have very oily hair, and although I know it's bad to wash your hair everyday, I had a hard time not doing this. Once I tried this dry shampoo, it was so much easier to be able to skip hairwashes. Just a few squirts, run a brush through it, and it looks so clean.

Thank you so much to Stephanie for having me here today. It's been a pleasure sharing my favourite beauty products with you. What are your go-to beauty products? I'd love to hear about them in the comments below, or hop on over to visit me at Polish and Sugar.
