Cheeseburger Pie

This is one of my current favorite recipes. I wanted to do something fun with the regular cheeseburger ingredients so I decided to make it into a pie! It kind of reminds me of a hot pocket but wayyy better. This recipe makes two whole pies (using 4 sheets of puff pastry), but you can cut the recipe in half if you have just have one box of puff pastry.

Ingredients:
1 onion, diced
1 pound ground beef
1 tbspn Worcestershire sauce
1 tbspn garlic powder
1 tbspn onion powder
2 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
2 tbspn ketchup
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
4 sheets puff pastry
1 egg, beaten with 1 tbspn water for egg wash

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Saute the onion in a skillet over medium heat until soft and translucent, about 6 minutes. Add the ground beef and brown. Add the Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Set aside.

Lay the first sheet of thawed puff pastry out on a floured board and roll out till about 10 x 12 inches. Place on a sheet pan lined with a silpat or parchment paper and spread some of the ketchup on the puff pastry, leaving about an inch around the borders. Add half of the beef mixture and then top with half of the cheese. Brush some egg wash on the edges. Roll out the second puff pastry sheet the same way as the first and lay on top. Seal the edges with a fork. Brush the top with egg wash and cut a few slits into the top of the pastry to allow steam to be release while baking. Bake for about 20 minutes, until it’s puffed and golden brown. Repeat with the second set of puff pastry dough.
